Traditionally there has been music at the Dresdner Zwinger, in the gardens as well as in the beautiful halls. For centuries the worlds best orchestras and musicians have played there and appreciated the wonderful acoustic. These are best conditions for the DRESDEN RESIDENCE ORCHESTRA to delight its guests with the famous gala concerts. You will spend an afternoon full of well known melodies, played by excellent young musicians. Enjoy it!
Music is simply a part of the DRESDEN ZWINGER. Every stone, every figure and every nymph of this unique baroque venue seems in perfect harmony. In 1709 Augustus II the Strong, the famous king of Saxony, ordered the former Dresden fortress to be converted into an orangery. Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann was comissioned to build a giant pleasure garden with pavillons, gardens and galleries. At one of those pavillons the marble hall impresses with beautiful simplicity and magnificent acoustics.
